Last year the little shed in my backyard went down. Big deal, you might say. My shed was much more than just a hut made of wood, it was my private space, my favourite place to be. For years I have put my passion into wood carving in that very shed. If you say that wood carving is a pretty boring passtime, you’re probably right. But for me it felt different.

It all started as an almost unintentional deed during a short stay at one of those holiday park cottages. At a moment that boredom kicked in – which is bound to happen if your family-in-law invites you to a weekend from hell- I took up a little kitchen knife out of a drawer. To prevent worse scenarios from happening, I started to take out my frustration on a little piece of wood that I found on a lonely walk. To my amazement my not-so-capable hands produced a nice piece of home crafts. It wasn’t art, that’s a different thing altogether. But that day I made a big discovery. I like wood carving.

From wooden shed to sea container

My newly discovered passtime rapidly took on the form of a serious hobby. Of course I had to invest heavily in some tools; every hobby worth the while is like a bottomless pit. It gives you a good reason to persevere as well. My planes and chisels needed serious space too. My first thought was the scullery, but my wife decided the shed was a more suitable place. She was completely right, because I tend to mess up a place quite a bit when I’m carving wood.

The wooden shed finally caved in last year. It made me sad, almost desperate. After the last remains of my shed had been removed, I began searching for a replacement. Now there’s a sea container in my garden. You know, the type of big metal box that you would pass thoughtlessly. But now I have grown attached to this space as well. A sea container can be made useful as a living room, an office or a hobby space.

I can recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quick spatial solution for his hobby. To buy a sea container is actually a lot easier than it seems. Just look online and you will be amazed by the supply and service level that you stumble upon. I purchased a secondhand sea container at a price I could never have built another shed for. Now I really have room for myself.

A Dutch hobbyist tells about the use of a sea container zeecontainer for his hobby. Instead of building a new shed he thought of the option to buy a sea container zeecontainer kopen.
